    Adrenergicreceptors(alsocalledadrenoceptors)arethereceptorsforthecatecholaminesadrenalineandnoradrenaline(calledepinephrineandnorepinephrineintheUnitedStates).Adrenalineandnoradrenalineplayimportantrolesinthecontrolofbloodpressure,myocardialcontractilerateandforce,airwayreactivity,andavarietyofmetabolicandcentralnervoussystemfunctions.

     
    Adrenergicreceptorsaremembersofthe G-proteincoupledreceptor (GPCR)superfamilyofmembraneproteins.Theyshareacommonstructureofsevenputativetransmembranedomains,anextracellularaminoterminus,andacytoplasmiccarboxylterminus.
